About Us

Janice Jackson - SSW II

Greetings! I am Janice Jackson a GCPS School Social Worker II. I serve as the team lead for the School Social Workers in Peachtree Ridge, Duluth, North Gwinnett, and Lanier Clusters. I also provide direct casework, service coordination, and crisis intervention services to students, families, and local school staff.

I graduated from Penn State (WE ARE!) with my bachelor’s and received my master’s from the University of Pittsburgh. I have over a decade of social work experience in different settings but so far education has been my favorite. Working with students has allowed me the opportunity to utilize my creative skills to help them see that learning is important. We are here to enhance the district’s mission to remove barriers to education and help students reach their full potential.

Ashley Vasile - SSW

Hello! My name is Ashley Vasile and I am the School Social Worker that serves the Peachtree Ridge Cluster. This is my first year with GCPS and I am so excited to be part of the team! My office is currently located in Hull Middle School, but I travel around the cluster to support our seven schools. Before working with GCPS, I worked at the University of Georgia helping college students succeed during their time in college. I am passionate about social work, breaking down barriers, and supporting my community. I believe education is the biggest gift anyone can be given and the best investment. I am excited to get to know our students and families that are served by our cluster.

How Can I Help?

There are many ways I can partner with the schools and help our students be the most successful. I work closely with our school counselors by meeting with them weekly to discuss any current student or family needs. There are a variety of situations in which I can be of assistance. I work with families in general for any resources they might need to help their student flourish during their time in school. These resources can be mental health resources, food resources, housing resources, and many other things! My main goal is to be the connection point between the school, the family, and the community so that the students reach their full potential! I am committed to doing my best to help bread down any barrier to education for our students.

Resources to highlight: One of my favorite resources is Psychology Today! This resource is a quick and simple way to find a mental health provider in your area. When visiting the website, you can narrow the search down by a variety of criteria and then it will give you a curated list of providers that more closely fit your needs.
