Mission:

The mission of the Hull Middle School Junior Beta Club is to recognize and promote academic excellence, develop student leadership, encourage strong character, and inspire meaningful service within our school and community.

Description of Activities:

The Hull Middle School Junior Beta Club recognizes invited 7th and 8th-grade students who earned all A’s during the first semester and demonstrate academic excellence, leadership, character, and service. Members are expected to maintain strong academics, attend meetings, complete one group and one individual service project, and submit a reflection on their service experience. Activities focus on leadership development and meaningful contributions to the school and community.

FAQ

What is the Beta Club?
The National Beta Club is a nationally recognized organization that promotes academic achievement, character, leadership, and service among students.

Who is eligible to join Beta Club?
Only 7th and 8th-grade students who earn all A’s are eligible. Membership is invitation-only.

How are students selected?
Eligible students are identified based on honor roll status. From that group, teachers submit nominations for students who demonstrate strong character, responsibility, and leadership potential.

When will Beta Club begin?
Beta Club will begin in February 2026 during the 2025–2026 school year.

When and how often will meetings take place?
Meetings will be held in the morning from 8:00–8:45 a.m., approximately two to three times per month. Meetings may be more frequent at the start of the program to establish expectations.

Is there a cost to join Beta Club?
Yes. There will be a student dues fee to cover national membership, materials, and activities. The exact amount will be shared with invited families.

What is expected of Beta Club members?
Members are expected to:

  • Maintain strong academic performance
     

  • Attend & participate in meetings
     

  • Complete one group community service project
     

  • Complete one individual community service project
     

  • Submit a reflection essay on their service experiences
     

Will students be required to log service hours?
No. Instead of logging hours, students will complete structured service experiences with written reflections focused on leadership, service, and character.

Are there leadership opportunities for students?
Yes. Students will have the opportunity to apply or run for officer positions as part of the founding chapter. Officer roles will include:

  • President – Leads meetings, represents Beta Club at school events, and works with the sponsor to set goals and oversee projects.
     

  • Vice President – Assists the president, helps run meetings, and steps in when the president is absent.
     

  • Secretary – Keeps meeting agendas, attendance records, and meeting notes; helps organize communication and materials.
     

  • Treasurer – Helps track dues and fundraising efforts and supports financial planning for activities.
     

  • Service Chair – Helps plan and coordinate group service projects and supports members with individual service opportunities.
     

Officer roles are designed to build responsibility, communication skills, and leadership experience while allowing students to actively shape the direction and culture of the Beta Club.

Who sponsors the Beta Club?
The Beta Club will be sponsored by Mr. Moody, with support from additional staff members.
